Measuring quality

When you are buying a product you probably rely on the seller and the producer to vouch for their quality. However if the producer really wants people to know that their products are top quality, they should have implemented quality standards. A simple end customer can then usually find a mark on the cover or somewhere on the product itself that it was made according to unified standards. Typical example is ISO 9001 a basic rule applied in most companies. It is a general standard. Each field of industry however have their own rules to be followed. EN 71-1 for example sets high standards on toys and their safety. EN 14492-1 is then dealing with cranes and winches and other heavy machinery.
